Light Roast Colombia Decaffeinated Coffee - Swiss Water Decaf Coffee Process - Decadent Decaf - New For 2023
Decaf Coffee Cupping Notes
This is an experimental and work-in-progress coffee as decaffeinated coffee is notoriously difficult to roast and requires careful roasting and experience to produce a light roast decaffeinated coffee.
This Colombian Swiss Water Decaf is our lightest roast yet and we want to know what you think of it? It still has the classic sweet nuttiness that Colombian coffees are known for, but with a more pronounced acidity, a lighter body and notes of honey and cherry.
Important note: The colour of this light roast Colombian Swiss Water Decaf looks more like a medium roast than a light roast.
Why is this? When you open up a bag of green coffee from the Swiss Water Decaf Coffee Company and inspect the beans, the first thing you notice is the colour.
Decaf coffee beans, before roasting, have a straw yellow colour to a light cinnamon brown due to the process of decaffeination - whereas an ordinary non-decaf green bean has a bluish-green tint to it.
As result, because the raw coffee beans are lighter in colour, their roast colour looks darker than the taste profile will appear.

Our decaf Light Roast Colombian coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water method, developed by the Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company. The process sees green beans being washed and soaked in hot water to release 99.9% of the caffeine in the beans.
