Decaf Coffee Trends - The Future of Decaf

Decadent Decaf is five years old, but did you know that the Swiss Water Decaf coffee brand was launched twenty years ago in Canada?

Swiss Water Decaf is now served in 65 countries around the world and decaf trends have evolved by leaps and bounds along with the specialty industry itself - moving away from blends, flavours and bulk bins to fresh-roasting and single origins.

These days, coffee drinkers care more about the quality of their decaf choices and often want to know everything from the region of origin down to the name of the coffee producer.

As a result, this coffee revolution paved the way for people to become better informed about how their decaf was processed and a shift towards healthier sustainable choices and away from added chemicals.

Step forward Swiss Water Deaf, which has always focused on sustainability and a clean approach to coffee and a commitment  to ever greater innovation and quality in decaffeinated coffee. After all, we, like you, are in it for what's in our cup of decaf.

So, what is the future of decaffeinated coffee and Swiss Water Decaf?

As the world has shifted its habits in the new landscape of COVID-19, so too have consumer habits shifted regarding decaffeinated coffee.

Out-of-home coffee consumption in cafes and restaurants in 2020 has been largely replaced by in-home brewing, and while many coffee roasters remain in operation, they've seen their business shift to online and grocery. A Nielsen study found packaged coffee sales through retail channels had leapt 25 percent in a four-week period!

Decaffeinated coffee consumption is also on the rise as witnessed by increased global sales of Swiss Water decaffeinated coffee - production of Swiss Water Decaf rose by  16% in 2019 - because the Swiss Water logo represents a sustainability-forward, chemical-free decaffeination process.
