How to make the perfect homemade Half Caff Coffee blend – our step-by-step guide

If you’re still drinking caffeine, then it might be time to think about drinking half caff coffee…

Why on earth drink half caff  coffee, I hear you say?

As one of the Co-Founders of Decadent Decaf, I still sometimes drink full caff coffee on top of my go-to decaf coffees, but for the last two years, I almost always only drink half caff coffee at home.

I started drinking Half Caff as an experiment to see if I could still get the caffeine “hit” I needed, but will less of the caffeine.

The answer is a big fat full resounding yes.

Half Caff delivers the caffeine hit and, more importantly, the psychological effect, to give your more of an edge and energy when you need it.

I don’t think any scientific studies have been made on the effects of half caff vs full caff, but I would be willing to wager that they would conclude that there’s almost the same effect for half caff as its full caff cousin.

So, how do you make a great half caff coffee blend?

Step 1 – You need to understand your own taste preferences. What do you want out of your blend? A strong robust hit or a fruity coffee or something in between?

Step 2 – To do this, start with your decaf coffee. Let’s say you want a strong half caff, then perhaps start with our Decadent Decaf Signature Espresso Blend.

Step 3 – Then match it with an equally strong full caff espresso blend of your choice.

Step 4 – Blend the coffee together. Important: this really only works with beans. Pour 50% decaf and 50% caff beans into a Tupperware box and then seal it.

Step 5 – Do the Half Caff dancing jig. You want to rattle that Tupperware for at least a minute in every direction and rhythm possible to really mix those beans together to produce your own signature half caff homemade blend.

Step 6 – Enjoy your half caff blend and see if the half caff delivers the same caffeine effects but with only half the caffeine!

Step 7 – Be more productive, less jittery, sleep better, drink half caff.
